I suggest buying 6x9 to 6.5 and 1 inch tweeter, they are plastic pieces that cover the 6x9 hole and then give you a 6.5 hole and a 1 tweeter hole, but you can leave that empty. I am a machinist so i would like to waterjet out the part to make it easier.
Then use either a router or jigsaw to cut the 6.5 hole. (stereo write ups in my sig) Use your factory speaker as the template. It may only be a matter of enlarging the holes in the new 6x9 with a bigger drill bit so that you can get the mounting screw in place. No one is currently typing a reply.
