Personally i don't use the straight inline dropper reels because i don't like the extended line angle when i'm fumbling around gear. I tried them out last year and really did not care for them. Does anyone have this set up? Then 13 fishing sort of brought about the straight line dropper reels of which we all associate them with inline reels of today. Price point they're on spot.
And yes i know that 13 fishing makes a wicked ice rod that is probably meant to match up with reel. Never had a problem with either other than the anti reverse can be goofy if they go for a swim logged print pages: Likewise diawa are offering a lot of their spinning reels with the lt designation for light and tough. And yes, you can't reel in the fish with the rod. I ran a pfluger president 6920 on it last year but moved that reel to an open water rod that needed a reel.

You can put a form thumb on the spool and use the rod for hook set but the drop the rod and go hand over hand. Reassemble and i'm good to go for a season. I am going back to standard reels for this year. About mid december i disassemble, clean, lubricate with very little clean light oil. Reel maintenance.

Baitfeeder spin reeli have a bunch of old okuma avenger abf for catfish and carp, the ceymar seems to be the next step up. The long stem just seemed to make the combo too big if that makes sense,.

Your rod and reel setups.for crappies and gills i use a cheaper spinning rod with a st. Reassemble, crank tyhe reels both directions, disassemble, wipe down all parts, gears, etc.
